TENNIS TECH is agent for the German made Match Pro polyester string, and major exporters to Europe and South America. This very popular mono filament provides excellent durability and playability at all four diameters. Highly recommended for players hitting aggressively with heavy top spin. Made in Germany and used by ATP tour players.
Specific Physical Properties of Match Pro
Of all grades of polyester on the market, it is the most stable, e.g. most resilient to tension loss. Please see physical properties given in Tennis Stringing brochure. Further the inherent stiffness of Match Pro combined with an ultra low co-efficient of friction of its surface make it highly resistant to notching. As Match Pro has a reasonable degree of elasticity it can be used for either the mains in two piece stringing, or mains and crosses for one-piece re-stringing. No surface coating is added to Match Pro as no known coating can approach its ultra low co-efficient of friction
Specific Playing Properties of Match Pro
• Great resistance to breakage by notching
• Ideal for all standards of players when no grade/make of Nylon string/gut string or composite reinforced synthetic is providing the desired string life.
• The thinner the diameter of a given string the greater the feel, the larger the diameter, the greater both the stability and durability and Match Pro is no exception, therefore, the following recommendation/practice apply to different standards of player who experience durability problems.
1. Top Tournament Players - particularly clay court players
Conventional synthetics would only last these players 20 minutes or so. Match Pro 1.35mm or 1.30mm is recommended for these professionals. Such players normally have the racquets re-strung on day of tournament and use for max. 3 hours before having re-strung.
2. National/County Standard Players/Full-time Squad Players
Normally use match Pro 1.25mm or 1.25mm diameter string either for mains or crosses or just mains, using natural gut or synthetics for crosses. Most players in this group will experience no string breakages for a week or so but after this time period would re-string the racquet. These players would normally experience 3 or 4 breakages a week even with the most durable synthetics, so the advantages for this group of players is very significant.
3. Top Club Players
Playing 3 - 5 times a week. Many of these players can experience string breakage once a week with synthetics. Changing to Match Pro 1.25mm or 1.30mm would, in most cases, provide a string bed life of 6 weeks or so, after which a re-string may be needed, depending on the player's style, power and court surfaces.
4. Club Players
Match Pro 1.25mm or 1.30mm would, even for regular players, ensure a string bed life of over one year before breakage occurred and tension wuld, in most cases, not be a problem during this time period. However, as Match Pro is stiffer than synthetics and most of these players do not break strings on a regular basis, the advantages of changing to Match Pro are not as significant as for those players in groups 1, 2 and 3.
Match Pro Availability
All grades of Match Pro are available in 12.5 metre sets of 210m reels. The 1.25mm, 1.30mm and 1.35mm diameters are available in natural or gold. We also supply Match Pro in 1.25 and 1.30mm diameter which is matrix reinforced with chemically processed titanium dioxide which imparts a silver colour to the string which has the practical advantage of increasing resistance to tension loss and has a silver appearance.
